Relying on the best
of best practice

We will offer permanent carbon removals, relying on leading certification and verifications standards.

A gurantee today
– and for the future

Kredsløb is currently reviewing various voluntary carbon standards with a view to pursuing subsequent project registration, verification, validation, and issuance, with a voluntary standard to generate CDRs.

Kredsløb will consider the feasibility of submitting the project for registration with either Puro.Earth, the Verified Carbon Standard (administered by Verra) or any other voluntary carbon standard that would be suitable for Kredsløb’s CCS project towards securing high-quality CDRs.

Feasibility study
underway

We have finalised a FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) study and are collaborating with multiple global technology suppliers who are carbon capture facility construction specialists.

The FEED study assesses the technical and financial aspects that guide the design and implementation of the carbon capture plant and has been carried out as a part of the tendering process.

By March 2025, we expect to have signed a contract with a turnkey technology supplier that will satisfy Kredsløb’s comprehensive performance, quality, and environmental requirements. The construction and implementation of the carbon capture plant will then be able to proceed.

How you benefit

The positive effects
of negative emissions

Capturing CO2 from a biomass heating plant results in negative emissions because this biomass is already considered CO2 neutral. The facility offers several total benefits to our carbon credit customers.

Energy efficiency

The heat generated by the BECCS facility will help provide district heating to Denmark’s second largest city.

Measurable

CO2 captured and stored using BECCS technology can be measured much more accurately when compared to other removal solutions.

Permanent

In BECCS projects, the carbon is stored +1,000 meters below the surface in structures that can hold CO2 for millions of years without leaking. CO2 captured is monitored and documented to ensure full transparency.

Additionality

BECCS carbon removals present a strong argument for additionality in that the removals would not have occurred without the incentives of the revenue from the sales of carbon removal credits.

Biogenic CO2
and credit sales

For mixed CO2 sources like municipal waste, the fraction of biogenic CO2 is quantified through radiocarbon (14C) analysis following either ISO 13833 or the ASTM D6866 standard testing methodologies.

We have been analysing the flue gas from the waste incineration plant since 2018, to quantify the amount of fossil CO2, in relation to ETS-allowances, using a test method that follows the ISO 13833 standard. The method is acknowledged by the authorities, including the Danish Energy Agency.

Benefits of
biogenic
CO2 credits

Kredsløb offers a long-term CDR delivery contract that provides stability and predictability for both involved parties.

We aim to pre-sell carbon credits at an attractive price, offering volume discounts and enabling neutralizing residual “hard to abate” carbon emissions at predictable costs and based on reliable delivery.

The agreement would be structured to ensure a robust partnership that is mutually beneficial and aligned with key project milestones, with further details to be agreed during negotiations.
